Assembling a record rack to store the 78's and custom record sleeves using 4mm plywood and combination of 18mm /  12mm pine dowels and D profile.

Bow Tie Sash /Attaching the crank handle / Embellishing the Sound Horn

Researching Bow Ties for the decorative sash. Drilling, cutting and filing the chair frame and motor box then, attaching the preformed crank handle fabricated from 8mm copper plumbing pipe and end feed fittings  whilst Paula decorated the papier mâché sound horn with her handwritten poem and accompanying artwork.

Attaching the ceramic clarinet components

Bonding the ceramic components to the chair frame using a 2-part epoxy resin adhesive. Each piece was supported whilst curing using insulation tape.

Embroidering the seat back

As part of the collaboration, artist Wilkie Tew, hand embroidered a red velvet seat back with silk thread .

78s' record artwork

Within the true spirit of a community project this element was inspired by a party held to celebrate the Cox tubular chair. Held in their Hay barn and cordially hosted by Ian and Paula Rylatt, 78s' from the 1930's through to the late 1950's were played throughout the evening. Each guest was issued with a dance card on which they were asked to share thoughts towards the music including memories and feelings evoked. Artists around the community then interpreted some of these thoughts through image.
